WHY USE BUYSELLART
Buying and selling art on the net has never been easier - Welcome to buysellart.com. We provide you with easy step-by-step instructions to help place your ad on the Net. And when your art is sold, we tie up all the loose ends between both buyer and seller.
First if you're unsure about how to price your art piece, we offer appraisals at $50 per art piece. We're here to assist you with ideas on how to get your art up and selling on the Net. Our recommendation is that you should always try to establish the most realistic fair market value for your art before placing your ad (see our Appraisal Resources Page).
We recommend first taking a look at several existing ads to get a feel for their form, content and presentation. Then, try composing your own on paper. When you're satisfied with what you have, go ahead and proceed to our Classified Ad Order Form. The rest is easy, our form will walk you right through the entire process.
One of the trickiest areas of the Net is the topic of photos. Once you understand how it works, it's a snap!
In order for a photo to be seen online, it must first be converted from a physical picture to the only two formats that the World Wide Web will accept: a *.gif image file or a *.jpg image file -- and to do this you must either have a scanner of your own or be able to find a scanning service.
Don't panic! Most local printers, especially the large chain stores, will scan your pictures while you wait for just a few dollars. Once your picture is on a disk, and you send it to us, you'll be ready to place it on the Net.
Important!
Be sure that your image scans to a file no larger than 700k. Also, do not settle for a poor photo -- your photo should be as crisp and clear as possible to ensure the best possible presentation and sale -- even if it takes a couple of extra scans to get the job done right.
Options for sending images to us:
Option 1 - Image on file:
Image in our database, you can request to see if we have your piece on file.
Option 2 - Attaching Images to E-mail:
You can send us your image by attaching it to your e-mail. For most mail programs this is a snap. Just send e-mail to buysellart@aol.com and we'll do the rest. Please, we cannot accept or download zip files.
Option 3 - "The Disk is in Snail Mail":
You can always send us your disk in the regular "snail" mail. Use the address shown at the bottom of this page.
Option 4 - We Scan It For You:
For a nominal scanning fee of $10.00 you can send us a glossy photo of your artwork and we will scan it for you and place it online. All scans include sharpening and image enhancement. You must first fill out the Order Form and Submit it to us. Then, by regular postal mail, send us your photo and include a check for $10 (Send to the address shown on the bottom of this page). Regarding quality, a lot of what you already see in our ads have been scanned by our staff and is a good representation of the quality you should expect. Of course, the scan is only as good as the picture you send in, so make sure it is the best possible.For All Listings:
We do want to let everyone know that we can only place orders online for those who have already signed up by using our Classified Ad Order Form and have paid by credit card, check, or money order. Ads may be kept online after 8 months at the discretion of buysellart.com.
When shipping framed artwork, art should be wrapped in plenty of bubble wrap and then boxed. With additional cardboard around art to protect from punctures. You could also use a wooden crate if so desired. Unframed artwork can be rolled into a tube. Make sure you first roll the art up with brown paper to protect the image and then roll up and place into a tube leaving a five inch opening to prevent crushing the art.
